Talk Session:
Hiroko Tasaka on the Position of
Animation in Recent Visual Art
and Culture

What is the current position of animation as a medium of expression in the moving image, or in the visual arts in general? Hiroko Tasaka, curator at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and the Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions, and also responsible for the much-discussed exhibition of Exonemo (in which “animation” in the broadest sense of the word is often used), explores the current position of animation as moving image in a conversation with Festival Director Doi Nobuaki.
